Ingredients

Instructions

  • Add the vinegar, orange juice, mayonnaise, sugar, Dijon mustard, onion powder, salt, and pepper to a bowl or jar.
2 Tbsps white wine vinegar, 2 Tbsps fresh orange juice, 1½ Tbsps mayonnaise, 1 Tbsp granulated sugar, 1 tsp Dijon mustard, ½ tsp sea salt, ⅛ tsp onion powder, ⅛ tsp black pepper
  • Whisk until smooth and combined.
  • Slowly whisk in the oils until emulsified.
¼ cup light olive oil, ¼ cup avocado oil
  • Stir in the poppy seeds. Taste if more salt is needed.
    1 Tbsp poppy seeds
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve and shake well before using.

Notes

  • Store the dressing covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Shake or whisk well before serving since homemade dressings naturally separate as they chill.
  • White wine vinegar gives the brightest flavor, but rice wine vinegar also works for a slightly milder dressing.
  • Fresh orange juice gives the best flavor in this recipe.
  • Avocado oil, vegetable oil, or another neutral oil all work well here.
