Ingredients for Easy Garlic Parmesan Bread
Salted Butter
First, use softened salted butter for rich, savory flavor. Soft butter blends easily and creates the perfect base for this easy garlic Parmesan bread.
Full-Fat Mayonnaise
Next, full-fat mayonnaise adds extra creaminess and depth. This simple ingredient helps keep the garlic Parmesan bread topping smooth, rich, and spreadable.
Fresh Garlic and Scallions
Then, fresh garlic and scallions bring bold flavor. Garlic adds classic punch, while scallions provide a mild onion note that balances the richness of the bread.
Grated Parmesan Cheese
For best results, use grated Parmesan cheese—even the kind in the green can works well. Because it melts evenly, it helps create a golden, cheesy topping for garlic Parmesan bread.
French Bread Loaf
Finally, choose a large, crusty French bread loaf. Slicing it lengthwise creates plenty of surface area for the creamy garlic Parmesan bread spread.

How to make Garlic Parmesan Bread-
This recipe is so easy, ready in minutes. While your oven is preheating, just mix together softened butter, mayonnaise, garlic, scallions, and grated Parmesan. Spread over a French loaf that’s been sliced lengthwise and nestle in foil on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with paprika.

Tent with foil and bake for about 10 minutes. Then remove the foil and broil until the edges are golden and the cheese mixture has fully melted, the top is slightly bubbly and the edges are a golden brown. Sprinkle with a little fresh or dried parsley for more color. Slice and serve. That’s it!

Garlic Parmesan Cheese Bread
Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread or other large, crusty loaf
- 1 cup salted butter softened
- 6 tbsp mayonnaise
- 6 tbsp Parmesan cheese grated
- 2 cloves garlic minced or grated
- 3 scallions white and green parts, chopped
- paprika for dusting
- 1 sprig parsley finely chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉. Slice loaf of bread in half lengthwise, cutting each half into equal thickness if possible. Set aside.1 loaf French bread
- In a medium bowl, mix butter and mayonnaise until smooth. If butter is not fully softened, it's fine, just mix as well as possible. Add Parmesan, garlic, and scallions, stirring until incorporated.1 cup salted butter, 6 tbsp Parmesan cheese, 6 tbsp mayonnaise, 2 cloves garlic, 3 scallions
- Spread mixture equally over both halves of bread. Sprinkle paprika on top to your liking. Make two boats of aluminum foil (see notes) around the bread halves. Place on the baking sheet and tent the top with aluminum foil.paprika
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Remove aluminum foil from top of bread and turn oven to Broil function. Broil until the topping is well softened, slightly bubbly, and the edges of bread are golden brown. This takes 2-4 minutes depending on your oven. Watch it carefully to ensure the topping and bread don't burn. Use the edge of the bread as your guide since the topping doesn't need to change color much.
- Remove bread from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Place bread on a cutting board and slice as desired. Plate and serve.
Equipment
Notes
- Parmesan cheese- I use the grated cheese that comes in the green container from the store.
- Mayonnaise- I recommend using full fat regular mayonnaise. Low fat mayo may not have creamy, successful results. Mayonnaise using other fats may have an off taste. Do not use Miracle Whip.
- Aluminum foil boat- Place the bread on a piece of foil a bit longer than the bread and then crinkle the foil around the bread with your hands to form a boat that cradles the bread.
- Parsley- Dried parsley may be used in place of fresh. If using dried, you can sprinkle it before baking.
- Reheating- Store any leftovers covered in foil in the fridge for up to 24 hours. To reheat, fully enclose the bread in foil and bake in preheated 350F degree oven for 10-15 minutes until warmed to your liking.
