Start with a can of 8-count crescent rolls. Don’t unroll them, just slice them into 16 equal pieces. Oreos get quickly dunked in milk then wrapped in the crescent dough. Bake until golden, only 10-11 minutes.
Straight out of the oven, sprinkle them with powdered sugar and serve. If you want to get really creative, you could make a powdered sugar glaze rather than dusting. Either way, serving Coal In The Snow at the holiday gathering will be a treat not soon forgotten.
Coal In The Snow Cookies - Baked "deep fried" Oreos
Ingredients
- 1 can 8-count crescent rolls
- 8 Oreo cookies
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ºF.
- Slice the cylinder of 8 crescent roll dough into 16 pieces.
- Flatten each disk gently to make a circle a little larger than an oreo.
- Dunk an Oreo in the milk very quickly so it doesn't get soggy. Place on a crescent roll circle. Press another circle of dough on top and pinch the layers together to seal the Oreo inside.
- Repeat with each Oreo. Place Oreos on a parchment lined baking sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and immediately dust with powdered sugar.
- Serve immediately if possible, but the cookies will keep for 24 hours in air tight container after cooling.
